Professional Statement

  • Dr. Alam has been in private practice since 2005, and with Orthopaedic Surgeons of Montgomery County since 2007. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a Distinguished Graduate of Air Force ROTC.
  • After completing medical school at Howard University and being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, he did his surgical internship at the Wright Patterson AFB Medical Center.
  • He served as a Flight Surgeon at Scott AFB before returning to Howard University to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency.
  • Upon returning back to active duty, he served as a staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at Langley AFB, during which time he was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (and earned an Air Force Commendation Medal.)
  • When he separated from the U.S. Air Force, he completed a joint replacement fellowship at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
  • Dr. Alam is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
  • Dr. Alam's interests lie in the treatment of hip, knee, shoulder, and all types of orthopaedic disorders. He specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, trauma and fracture treatment.
  • He is happily married with three children and enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and skiing.
