Dr. Alam has been in private practice since 2005, and with Orthopaedic Surgeons of Montgomery County since 2007. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a Distinguished Graduate of Air Force ROTC.
After completing medical school at Howard University and being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, he did his surgical internship at the Wright Patterson AFB Medical Center.

He served as a Flight Surgeon at Scott AFB before returning to Howard University to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency.
Upon returning back to active duty, he served as a staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at Langley AFB, during which time he was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (and earned an Air Force Commendation Medal.)
When he separated from the U.S. Air Force, he completed a joint replacement fellowship at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopaedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Dr. Alam is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Alam's interests lie in the treatment of hip, knee, shoulder, and all types of orthopaedic disorders. He specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, trauma and fracture treatment.
He is happily married with three children and enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and skiing.
