Dr. Wu completed his fellowship at SUNY-Downstate in Brooklyn and is Board Certified in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, as well as Internal Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, before attending medical school at Wayne State University. Afterwards he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts, before starting his Allergy and Immunology fellowship. Since fellowship, Dr. Wu has remained active in the Allergy and Immunology training program at SUNY-Downstate, and is also an active staff member at Richmond University Medical Center as well as Staten Island University Hospital.
Due in part to his own food allergies, Dr. Wu has a strong interest in food allergy diagnosis, management and treatment, as well as asthma, which drew him into the field of allergy in the beginning. He also has a strong interest in complementary and alternative medicine in combination with traditional medicine. Before attending medical school, he conducted research with the National Institutes of Health, at the University of Michigan's Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research Center. During his fellowship, he continued his work in studying green tea extract and its' effects on allergies, as well as resident physician education, and presented his work at national meetings for the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
With this background, Dr. Wu is very interested in possible nutritional augmentation and herbal therapies for asthma and food allergies in combination with the latest guidelines for quality medical care. He also loves to educate his patients on their conditions, and works with them to provide the best possible customized care for each patient. Dr. Wu lives on Staten Island with his wife, and in his spare time he enjoys tinkering with the latest technologies.
