Dr. Silva is the newest member of GI Associates and joined the practice in 2006. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He received his medical degree from the Catholic University of Guayaquil, Ecuador. He had formal training in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago - Advocate Christ Medical Center where he also served as Chief Medical Resident and Clinical Instructor of Medicine in 2002.

He trained in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics where he also received advanced therapeutic endoscopy training in endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal tumors. Dr. Silva was the first physician to perform Endoscopic Ultrasonography in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. He has published several research articles in Endoscopic Ultrasound as well as bowel preparations for colonoscopy.
He has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal tumors and pancreatic cysts. He is an active member of the teaching staff, residency selection committee, research committee and is a resident supervisor at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Dr. Silva is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the Amercian College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is fluent in Spanish.
