I have been in practice at NYU Langone Medical Center for 28 years. For the last 6 years, I have been on the full-time employed faculty. Prior to that, I was in private practice also at NYU. I serve as Professor of Plastic Surgery and Vice Chairman of Clinical Operations for the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery. I am also the Plastic Surgery Service Chief at Tisch Hospital
I graduated from Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1983 and completed my general surgery, plastic surgery, and microsurgery training NYU. While I have expertise in many areas of plastic surgery, my current interests are in all areas of breast plastic surgery and facial aesthetic surgery.
I perform breast reduction, reconstruction, augmentation, and lifts, as well as facial aesthetic surgery and body contouring. I introduced short-scar vertical (lollipop) breast reduction to New York City about 20 years ago. Since then I have performed over 1500 cases. I specialize in all types of breast reconstruction, including reconstruction using implants and autologous microsurgical breast reconstruction, in which a person’s own tissue is used to recreate the breast. I am invited nationally and internationally to speak about advances in breast reconstruction.
Plastic surgery is an evolving and innovative field. I offer my patients the latest techniques and expertise to achieve the best possible results. Our patients are not just a number or another person in line. My team and I offer specialized care that focuses on each person—we listen to our patients and try our best to understand their objectives and expectations.
Many of the patients I see had procedures performed elsewhere and come to NYU Langone looking to improve upon or repair the previous surgery. It is important to me that my patients are happy and satisfied with the results of my work.
I engage in research related to breast reconstruction using the latest breast implants and newest breast support products. Currently, I am a principal investigator in the FDA trial for Motiva breast implants. I also conduct research on three-dimensional imaging of the breast to simulate and plan surgery.
I am on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and I am a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. For the last 10 years I have been an examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
