Dr. Nissirios has sub-specialized in Cornea and External Eye Diseases, Premium Cataract Surgery and LASIK/Refractive surgery with Fellowship training with Dr. Henry Perry and Dr. Eric Donnenfeld in Long Island, NY. During his fellowship, Dr. Nissirios specialized in cataract surgery with implantation of multi-focal, accommodating and astigmatism correcting intraocular lenses, including the most modern Laser Cataract Surgery (LenSx laser system), being one of the few ophthalmologists in the country being certified to operate this latest technology. He was also trained and is fully certified in the latest techniques in custom bladeless laser refractive surgery and corneal transplantation.
Dr. Nissirios is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been active in ophthalmic research, authoring many article publications, including being involved in multiple prospective and experimental research trials. He is an associate clinical professor at the Nassau University Medical Center participating in the training of ophthalmology residents. Dr. Nissirios is member of numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
