Dr. Cohn received his undergraduate degree from Boston University and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Cohn is originally from New York City, but moved with his family to Oceanside, Long Island, a suburb of New York, as a young boy. After attending Boston University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, he returned to New York City, where he has lived since graduation. Dr. Cohn continued the practice of optometry begun by his grandfather in 1922 on the lower east side. In addition to his practice, Dr. Cohn has worked with local schools and serves on the Board of a children's hospital in Cambodia. He has also traveled extensively, visiting almost 100 countries. Having a long, deep interest in the arts, he collects contemporary works of art, as well as ancient Buddhist and Hindu objects.
Dr. Cohn provides general optometry services, including refraction with prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses. He provides general eye health examinations, including looking for cataracts, diabetic problems of the eye, glaucoma / high pressure, field of vision, and other eye problems. In addition to being licensed in optometry with additional certification for therapeutic and diagnostic use, he completes 25+ hours of continuing education each year. To keep his practice up to date, Dr. Cohn attends Vision Expo, Optometric Center NY classes, and OMNI eye lectures, as well as other educational venues.
