Dr. Maureen O’Dwyer received her doctorate degree from State University of New York College of Optometry where she was honored with the Primary Care Award for Excellence in Clinical Optometry. During her course of study, Dr. O’Dwyer conducted several years of vision-related laboratory investigation in the areas of the visual pathway and spatial relations. Following study at SUNY College of Optometry, Dr. O’Dwyer received further training in the treatment and management of glaucoma, ocular disease and primary eye care at the New York Harbor Health Care System Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. O’Dwyer has worked with the Department of Education, helping to ensure that all school-aged children received vision screenings, and that children with serious vision problems received the evaluation and treatment they needed early on. Dr. O’Dwyer also volunteered to collect and process glasses to donate to missions that provide eye care in Ghana.
Dr. O’Dwyer practiced as an Assistant Professor of Optometry at the Weill Cornell Medical Center and the New York-Presbyterian Hospital from July 2000 until November 2007. Dr. O’Dwyer has transitioned into private practice where she strives to provide patients the highest quality eye care and assists patients in making informed decisions about what products and procedures will best benefit their individual eye care needs.
