Dr. Laura Cha was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and moved to New York City for college. Dr. Laura Cha was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and moved to New York City for college. She graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology in 1997 and then attended Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2001, she was awarded the Macy's Scholarship to study public health at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Having an interest in Women's Health, she completed her Masters of Public Health in the Division of Population Studies and Family Health in 2002. In the same year, Dr. Cha completed her medical studies at Columbia University and was awarded her MD. She then entered residency at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Division of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Studies. Dr. Cha graduated from her residency program in OB/GYN in 2006 and became Board Certified in this field in 2007. She was granted fellowship status from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG) in 2009.
Since her residency in 2006, Dr. Cha has practiced in various clinical settings. She has worked in the underserved community of East Harlem at North General Hospital and also worked as part of the faculty at her esteemed alma mater, The Mount Sinai Hospital. Most recently, Dr. Cha has been in private practice on the Upper Westside and now has the fortunate opportunity to open her own practice on Manhattan's Upper Eastside.
Dr. Cha is married and a mother of two children. She resides with her family in the Morningside Heights area of Manhattan. Her son Lucas is 6 years old and is in Kindergarten. Her daughter Logan is 2.
Fields of interest include adolescent health, family planning and contraception, menstrual abnormalities, postpartum depression and labor management. Being a mother of two, Dr. Cha especially enjoys supporting expectant and new mothers through this exciting journey.
