Dr. Young was born and raised in New York City and received a B.A. in Biology from Brown University, followed by an MD degree from the NYU School of Medicine. After completing his residency and Chief Residency at NYU/Bellevue Hospital Centers he entered private ob/gyn practice.
While building his private practice he worked professionally at several other venues. Early in his career he volunteered at The Door, a multidisciplinary counseling, medical, and career service center, all under one roof, serving NYC’s runaways and other at-risk adolescents. He also worked at the Bellevue Hospital Adolescent Gyn clinic and served as the United States Coast Guard’s obstetrician and Gyn consultant for Active Duty servicewomen and wives of servicemen, at the Coast Guard Infirmary on Governor’s Island before they left NYC in 1996. He was a Voluntary Attending Physician for many years at St. Vincent’s Medical Center until they closed their doors for good in 2010.
His special interests include the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and abnormal Pap smears, contraceptive counseling, and the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal vaginal bleeding and peri-menopausal disorders. Dr. Young is pro-choice and accepting and comfortable with discussing alternative sexual lifestyles from celibacy to polyamory.
Dr. Young is married with two children, neither of whom wants to be a doctor!
