Dr. Kanos has been a faculty attending physician in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center since 2000. In 2002, he was also appointed assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was appointed director of the Quality Improvement Program for the St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in 2007.

He graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and obtained his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kanos is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. While his practice spans all aspects of general obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Kanos has a special interest in obstetrics and gynecologic surgery, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. His cesarean section rate is lower than the hospital's and the national average.
