Dr. James D. Sterling earned a Doctor of Philosophy in the field of psychology at the University of Chicago and Masters Degrees from both the University of Chicago and the Columbia University Business School. After serving internships at the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center, Dr. James D. Sterling obtained his Illinois state psychologist’s license in 1976. A New Yorker, Dr. James D. Sterling returned to New York City in 1977, where he obtained his New York State License in Clinical Psychology. During this time, Dr. James D. Sterling also was appointed to the board of directors for the Greater New York area’s Alcoholism Council, where he served on the referral and treatment standards and training committee. ?
Dr. James D. Sterling has had his full-time practice since 1976, specializing in individual, family and couples therapy. He is the director of the New York Center for Psychotherapy, which helps the client improve their personal relationships by providing a greater understanding of their conflicts, developing their communication skills and other tools to facilitate their adjustment to each other.
