Dr. Dora Pinkhasova graduated from Samarkand Medical Institute, where she completed her Internal Medicine and Neurology training. While in Uzbekistan, Dr. Pinkhasova worked as a clinical practice neurologist for over 10 years and was exposed to a variety of different neurological disorders.
Beginning in 1995 she devoted several years to neurological research at the Laboratory of Brain Sciences of Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, where she was involved in research projects in neuropathological assessment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
In 2004 she completed her residency at Albany Medical Center, including one year in Internal Medicine and three years in Neurology. In 2005 she completed a clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the Department of Neurology of Columbia University. Her fellowship focused on electromyography and neuromuscular disorders. In 2005 Dr. Pinkhasova became a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
From 2005 through 2007 Dr. Pinkhasova worked in the Department of Neurosurgery, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where she was involved in treatment of patients with rare disorders such as Chiari I malformation, pseudotumor cerebri, hydrocephalus and syringomyelia. However, given her many years of experience as a general practice neurologist, she was interested in continuing her practice with patients suffering from other neurological disorders as well.
Dr. Pinkhasova joined the staff of Columbus as a full time neurologist in 2007. She is currently involved in the evaluation and treatment of patients with neurological problems such as headaches, dizziness, neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, cerebro-vascular disorders, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias, movement disorders including Parkinson's Disease and essential tremor, sleep disorders, brain and spine tumors, infectious disease of the nervous system, traumatic injuries of the brain and peripheral nerves, cerebral palsy and others.
