Carmen Chitu is a friendly, patient-oriented internist specializing in geriatric care in New York City. Dr. Chitu is bilingual, speaking both English and Romanian. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine to practice both internal medicine and geriatric medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Chitu received her medical education in her native Romania at the Grigore Tudor Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She relocated to the United States after working as a research assistant at the Sf. Maria University Hospital. She began working as a surgical assistant for Robert Ghalili until she enrolled to begin her internal medicine residency at the Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens. After completing her residency, Dr. Chitu began studying at the New York University Medical Center as a geriatric medical fellow.
Dr. Chitu applies her work ethic and compassionate nature to caring for her patients. Her illness consultations and senior visits are completed within an hour and carried out with consideration and respect.
