Dr. Carissa Summa is a Board Certified Dermatologist. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and Organic Chemistry. Dr. Carissa Summa is a Board Certified Dermatologist. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and Organic Chemistry. Dr. Summa then went on to study medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a unique venture, she dedicated one year to the cutting-edge research of wound healing at Stony Brook University and contributed to textbooks in the field. Upon graduation, she was chosen for the Norman H. Ilowite Award for "Excellence in Dermatology". She completed an internship at Nassau University Medical Center and a Dermatology residency at St.Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx and Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn. She achieved chief intern and resident at all hospitals. She has authored several journal articles over the years. Upon board certification, she practiced in four offices in Palm Beach County, Florida for three years. Here Dr. Summa was a clinical instructor for residents in South Florida. She is on staff at Wellington Regional Medical Center and Palms West Medical Center in Florida. In 2008, Dr. Summa returned to New York and opened Adult and Pediatric Dermatology, P.C. in Franklin Square, N.Y. She is affiliated with North Shore LIJ, Franklin General and St. Barnabas Hospitals.
