I am an Ivy League trained Psychiatrist with 15 years clinical experience. My approach may or may not involve medications but always involves psychotherapy. I observe that medications are often misused and overprescribed by my colleagues when in fact what would be most helpful is a thoughtful observation of ways in which your coping strategies fall short, or ways in which thoughts and behaviors undermine our success. I believe that the work we do should feel motivating, comforting, empowering and interesting.
After graduating from Univ of Pennsylvania I attended medical School at Cornell. I then did Psychiatric Residency at UCLA- Harbor. In addition to doing outpatient Psychiatry, I have also worked in an inpatient setting and in a Psychiatric ER. As a result I feel confident that whatever you are suffering with, I am able to help.
I know that when people come to me they need to see results. That's why I practice a structured approach in which we set goals and learn skills that will help you partner with me in getting you back to the place you want to be quickly. I have worked extensively with Ground Zero rescue workers and volunteers and am an expert in helping people cope with and overcome substantial life challenges. I am the author of a book called "Back To Life: Getting Past Your Past with Resilience, Strength and Optimism" and have appeared on CNN, Anderson Cooper and many other TV and radio shows as an expert.
Before I accept a new patient we always speak on the phone to make sure it's a good fit. I DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE but it may be covered by your out of network benefit. My rates are $300/50 minute session and the initial consultation is a 1 1/2 hour for a charge of $600. I look forward to talking with you.
