About Dr. Peter Lobl

I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in the State of New York. I primarily work with adults and couples who experience recurring and distressing relationship problems either at work or at home. I also treat mood and anxiety symptoms and work with patients on issues relating to low self esteem, depression, anger, and emotion regulation. My clinical approach is dictated by your reasons for contacting me, my training as a psychologist, as well as by our evolving working relationship. I find it important to foster a space for our work that is positive and conducive to the changes you are seeking. In coming to treatment, some choose to focus on specific issues and target symptoms, and the treatment may then include learning new skills to deal with these discrete problems. Others may however be considering changes in one or more domains of their life, personal or professional, with a view to a more meaningful career or to healthier relationships. This kind of process may involve examining your subjective experience in greater depth and developing a greater understanding of your needs, your emotional life, your relationship patterns, and your beliefs about yourself and others. I have worked with patients who have emerged from such a process with a better understanding of their internal life, with enhanced capacities to work through interpersonal conflicts, and who begin to make choices that are more thought out, deliberate, and consistent with their personal values.
