About Dr. Naomi Kehati- Bronner

Psychotherapy is first and foremost a deeply human encounter. The science and art of psychotherapy, to which I have devoted 35 years, is, as I see it, the only tool available to us to improve inner freedom and control over our life. My main approach to therapy that encompasses all theories of the mind is geared toward improving "Mentalization." This means that I work with the patient to improve his/her ability to "understand behavior in terms of intentions -- thoughts, feelings, beliefs, wishes and desires. So one can see hime/her from the outside and others from the inside." (Peter Fonagy). Through an interactive process between us (therapist and patient) I will try to guide you to get to know the inner workings of yourself, what makes you who you are. To try and understand why and how you learned to respond to the challenges of your reality (familial, social, cultural), the way you did, so we can change the ways in which you interact with the world and in turn cause the world to change the way it interacts with you. Ideally, the behavior then, gets to be informed by a less defensive, more authentic and real self, which will lead to making better choices, heal past wounds, prevent future mistakes and improve the quality of life.
