About Dr. Jean Furuyama
Jean Gaffney Furuyama graduated from NYUCD where she was awarded the prize for outstanding woman student. After a general practice residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, she opened her practice from scratch in 1981 and was, until March 2010 the sole owner of a high tech, fee for service group practice in Manhattan, NY. Dr. Furuyama’s passion is high tech dentistry and she is a strong supporter of general dentists being able to practice beyond the scope of just “drilling and filling”. She places her own implants as well as restores them, and was one of the first general dentists to become certified in Invisalign. Her training in fixed orthodontics was through an orthodontic program sponsored by Long Island University which is held three days a month for two years.
