About Dr. Charles J Galanis
Dr. Galanis, a native of Milwaukee, completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin where he served as class president and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, a distinction only granted to the top 15% of medical school graduates. Upon completing medical school, Dr. Galanis matched to and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital – which was ranked the #1 hospital in the nation by US News and World Report for a record 21 years in a row. While a surgical resident, he was awarded a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct two years of clinical research at New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – the #1 ranked cancer center in the U.S. While at Johns Hopkins, he was also awarded Resident Teacher of the Year award as Chief Resident. After completing his general surgery training, Dr. Galanis pursued his interests and matched into UCLA’s highly competitive plastic and reconstructive surgery program.
